Pizzeria Spacca Napoli takes your taste buds on a trip to Italy

Flights to Naples, Italy, from Vancouver are going for roughly $1,500 right now, round trip.

A trip out to Pizzeria Spacca Napoli? The cost of a transit ticket… so roughly $2.50. We think you know where we’re going with this.

The Port Moody pizza place has proven itself to be the go-to for authentic Neapolitan pizza, with the wood-fired flavour, speckled crust, and deliciously fresh toppings you’d expect if you did manage to make the trip across the Atlantic.

We instead opted to settle in for a feast at Pizzeria Spacca Napoli, and are we ever glad that we did.

On the docket was the Capriccoiosa, which came with prosciutto cotto ham, mushroom, olives, artichoke, fresh basil, fior di latte mozzarella, and parmigiano reggiano. To say it was a true taste of Italy would be an understatement.

But the pizzeria doesn’t just do pizzas. We also tried out the pammardelle al ragu, a pasta dish made up of slow-braised beef, fresh basil, parmigiano reggiano, as well as the Nonna’s Tiramisu, a combination of espresso, savoiardi biscuits, whipped mascarpone, and cocoa dusting.

Every dish was to die for, if that wasn’t obvious from the photos.

Pizzeria Spacca Napoli is located at 2801 St. John’s St. in Port Moody, and is open from 4 to 10 pm Tuesday through Thursday, 4 to 11pm Friday and Saturday, 12:30 to 10pm on Sundays, and is closed on Mondays.
