šŸ½ Thankful for pie

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey foodies!

Another long weekend? Thatā€™s centred around eating delicious food with your favourite people? Count me in.

Thanksgiving is a great time, maybe the best time, from the Butterball Hotline to the tryptophan-causing siesta. But Thanksgiving is no fun if you forget dessert. If you havenā€™t picked up a pie yet, do yourself a favour and get. on. it. now.

We ordered from Gabi & Jules again this year. Their blueberry earl grey pie is splendid, as is the strawberry apple rhubarb crisp, as isā€¦ oh this could take a while.

COMING SOON

Whatā€™s replacing Nellos?

One of the TCā€™s favourites, Nellos closed down their Italian eatery over the summer, with ownership citing financial challenges.

Since the end of August though, signs have been up on the building at 925 Brunette Avenue saying that ā€œAria Afghan Grillā€ would be coming soon, and it looks like theyā€™re getting close to opening.

Thereā€™s a bit of brand confusion but it looks like Aria Kabab House & Grill closed down their Burnaby location (on 6th Street) and are rebranding as Aria Afghan Grill in the Maillardville spot.

On Instagram, they say theyā€™re aiming to have a grand opening in mid-October.

Hereā€™s a look at their menu.
