Green Leaf Cafe is THE place to go for oshi sushi

You heard it here first, folks.

What is oshi sushi, you might ask?

Well, it’s kind of like regular sushi, with the seafood and the rice and the seaweed, but instead of being rolled it’s pressed into a box shape.

So instead of a circle, it’s a square. And instead of a cylinder, it’s a cute little cube.

It’s actually one of the oldest forms of sushi, originating in the Kansai region of Osaka over 400 years ago! Four centuries later—and a few thousand kilometres away—finds Green Leaf Cafe offering some of the best oshi sushi in the area.

We went over to the Burquitlam spot to see what all the hubbub was about, and we were blown away by both the taste and the presentation.

We also tried out the house roll and the garden salad, and everything was both fresh and delicious.

Definitely a must-visit on any sort of sushi tour around the Tri-Cities.
